Hello, I’m Susann, a ceramic artist originally from Munich, Germany, now living in Santa Cruz, California. I’m the creator behind Liljen Ceramic Design.
I create floral and coral-inspired wall installations alongside contemporary ceramic pieces. Some are functional, some are just here to look gorgeous. Every piece is handmade with patience, love, and a touch of magic. Each one is unique, ensuring every collector owns something truly one of a kind.

From the moment I discovered clay, I was hooked. I spend all my free time in the studio, soaking up techniques, drawing inspiration from artist friends, and immersing myself in exhibitions. Clay has become my true passion—there’s no such thing as a day without it in my hands anymore!
Living by the ocean has deeply influenced my work. My European roots shape my clean, contemporary aesthetic, blending simplicity with organic forms. Whether I’m tide-pooling, diving, or admiring floral patterns, I translate these inspirations into ceramics. My pieces don’t seek to replicate nature exactly but to capture its essence—like abstract art.
Through my work, I hope to spark curiosity, evoke wonder, and inspire a deeper appreciation for the beauty and biodiversity around us.
